Alexia was born in Athens in 1979.Her father George Potamitis is a gastroenterologist practicing in Nicosia and her mother Dora Potamitou an ophthalmologist also practising in Nicosia. 
 
She is married to Andreas Artemiou a veterinary surgeon practising in Nicosia. They have a little daughter named Theodora.
 
Alexia has always had an incline in healthy eating that is why she has studied Food and Nutrition with a specialisation in Dietetics, in the United States of America. She has earned her Master's degree in clinical dietetics and had worked in several hospitals in the area of Illinois, Missouri and Arizona. She has specialised in gastrointestinal diseases and has just recently earned her specialisation in childhood obesity as well.
 
She has a private practise in Nicosia for the last 8 years and she writes articles in Life magazine for the last four years.
 
she is an active member of the American dietetic Association as well as the Cypriot Dietetic Association. 
 
She has presented several  nutritional topics in Cyprus and abroad. She has a great interest in 'diet and cancer' and 'emotional eating' .
She is the author of the book 'now we can eat without guilt!' The book in available in bookstores since last November 2012.
 
Alexia has a passion in cooking and exercise, yoga in particular.
